Hi! I'm Sara. A born and bred Rhode Islander capturing vibrant portraits for fellow island locals and vacationers alike. Years ago, after one semester as a marketing major at the University of Rhode Island, I left school to take my business full-time and I haven't looked back since.

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Sara. A portrait and wedding photographer serving Newport, Rhode Island and beyond. I started my business as a senior in high school and have had my camera by my side ever since. When I'm not in the studio or shooting a session on the beach, I'm usually in one of two modes. If I'm feeling inspired, you can often find me walking Sachuest Point at golden hour, chasing the sunset on Ocean Drive, or at a coffee shop with my notebook in hand dreaming up new ideas. Other times you'll find me parked on my couch, with McDonalds in hand, binge watching The Kardashians. It's all about balance.

I'm very easygoing and find the most happiness in simple moments with family and friends. I absolutely love what I do and I feel so very appreciative of every person that steps in front of my camera. I know it can sometimes feel a little nerve wracking to step in front of the camera - my number one goal is to make your session a fun, comfortable, and uplifting experience while capturing beautiful photos that you will look back on for the years to come.

Hey! I’m Sara, a photographer from Portsmouth, RI. I graduated from Portsmouth High School in 2013, went on to study at the University of Rhode Island for a short time before leaving school to focus on my business. I started seriously taking photos in 2012 and since then Sara Cooney Photography was created, and has developed into my job and my passion.

I feel so thankful that I get to call this work, photographing people is my favorite thing in the world. When I’m not behind my camera you’ll find me somewhere by the ocean or on my couch watching Shark Tank and brainstorming my next business idea.

I absolutely love Rhode Island – I have lived here my entire life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Opening a studio here has been a dream of mine for a long time and I am so excited to be making that happen. You can find Sara Cooney Photography at 227 Spring Street in Newport, Rhode Island in 2018.
